Education

Dr. Fred Langheim majored in English and zoology at UW–Madison. After graduating, he taught English and German in Florence, Italy. Upon returning to the US, he conducted neuroimaging research on schizophrenia at the NIMH with Dr. Daniel Weinberger, and published scientific papers. After two years at the NIMH he entered graduate school and earned his PhD in neuroscience, as well as his MD at the University of Minnesota. He completed training in psychiatry at UW¬–Madison while studying consciousness and sleep. He is currently the clinical adjunct assistant professor of psychiatry at UW–Madison, staff psychiatrist at Dean Health Systems, and co-director of consultation and liaison psychiatry at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. Beyond the sciences, he tries to make time to run, bicycle, write, and make music with his friends and family.
