Crystal L. Nelson MD is a graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Morehouse School of Medicine and completed her psychiatry residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. She also has additional experience in Geriatric Psychiatry from Emory University. Dr. Nelson is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Her psychiatric interests include adult and geriatric psychiatry. She specializes in use of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for the treatment of major depression. Dr. Nelson is committed to educating patients about their mental health and empowering them in the healing process. In addition to medication management, her training in psychotherapy and life experience has provided her the tools to help individuals and families cope with significant life changes such as trauma, illness, and grief. Dr. Nelson approaches each patient with patience, warmth, and understanding. Her pleasant approach and helpful explanations facilitate treatment and give her patients a sense of comfort and trust.
