Education

Dr. Shoaib graduated from Sind Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He completed his internship at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and went on to do his Residency in General Adult Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Later followed by a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at University of Texas - Medical School in Houston, Texas. Dr. Shoaib has more then 20 years of experience in Psychiatry, including research at UT on Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, and Depression. He has authored several papers and publications on Major Depressive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Bipolar Disorder. Dr. Shoaib sees children, adolescents, and adults in his private practice and treats patients with depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD, and substance abuse disorders. Dr. Arif Shoaib enjoys building a relationship with his patients and their families, a bond that only few physicians experience. The trust that is built establishes the grounds necessary for therapeutic intervention. Dr. Shoaib chose specializing in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry because he believes that "all children are our sons and daughters and it is our responsibility to help raise them, and protect them." He said that it was during his years in research he realized that many lives can be saved if appropriate intervention is made at the right time. Dr. Shoaib also volunteers his time helping indigent people with healthcare needs and speaks at various community platforms educating, informing, and discussing mental health and complete well-being. He is a compassionate and humble human and an extraordinary physician.

He is also a member of American Psychiatric Association, American Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians.
