Khurshid Ahmad Khurshid M.D. is a diplomate in Internal Medicine, Psychiatry and Sleep Medicine. Dr. Khurshid graduated from All Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi India with a Doctorate of Medicine in Psychiatry. He completed Residency training in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at the SIU School of Medicine, Springfield, Ill in 2005. Dr. Khurshid went on to complete a Fellowship in Sleep Medicine and Circadian Rhythm Disorders at the University of Chicago in Chicago Ill. in 2006. Dr. Khurshid is interested in sleep disorders, sleep and depression, and brain stimulation. Dr. Khurshid was Director of the Sleep Disorders Center at Howard University Hospital in Washington DC. He also held the position of Medical Director for Inpatient Psychiatry at Howard University Hospital, with an Associate Professor position in the departments of Psychiatry and Neurology at Howard University, Washington, DC. At Meritcare Hospital with the University of North Dakota, Fargo, North Dakota, Dr. Khurshid was an attending Psychiatrist and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry. His responsibilities included assessment and treatment of various psychiatric patients on the acute care adult inpatient unit, managing consult service at South University Campus and teaching of residents and medical student.

After completion of his psychiatric residency, Dr. Kanter established his private practice of psychiatry in Gainesville, Florida in 1984. Dr. Kanter provided outpatient psychiatric services including psychodynamic psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, consultation and supervision for thirty-three years. In June 2016 he joined the University of Florida College of Medicine Department of Psychiatry with the focus on the education of the psychiatric residents and the articulation of psychotherapy and sychopharmacological skills within the outpatient clinical setting.
