After 12 years of serving as an active duty Psychiatrist in the United States Army, Dr. Justin Lapollo has retired from active duty and now serves his community as the first psychiatrist to bring NeuroStar TMS, a proven depression relief that lasts, to Maryville, TN.

Dr. Lapollo started his higher education with an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point and following 9/11 accepted a full ROTC scholarship at East Tennessee State University (ETSU). He completed Virginia Tech medical school at the top of his class at Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and was commissioned as a Captain in the US Army attending Internship and Residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii.

He has served in clinical and administrative leadership roles including:

  • -Resident Teacher of the Year at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS)
  • -Academic Chief Resident
  • -Division Psychiatrist at Fort Stewart, GA
  • -Deputy Department Chief for the Department of Behavioral Health at Winn Army Community Hospital
  • -Chief Psychiatrist at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba
  • -Senior Psychiatrist with the 254th Combat Operational Stress Control Unit in Baumholder Germany

Bethanie completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh and is currently finishing up her final hours for her Master’s Degree, a dual emphasis in Professional Clinical Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy (EGD: 11/22). Following her undergraduate program Bethanie knew she wanted to do more and enlisted in the United States Navy. She honorably served her country for four years and enjoys working with the military and civilian community. Bethanie has over 5 years of experience across a variety of settings including private practice, outpatient clinics, telepsyc, non-profits, crisis intervention and research settings. She has a broad range of clinical experience working with individuals, couples and groups during her professional career in the following areas:

Bethanie’s approach emphasizes the mutual development of goals for therapy and ongoing evaluation of the therapeutic approach. She is trained in a variety of techniques to include but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Crisis Intervention, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Relaxation/Mindfulness Techniques. She continues to seek ongoing updates to her skills and knowledge base. Bethanie is invested in an approach that emphasizes a more integrative, dynamic, and holistic approach to mental health.
