Gregory R. Alsip, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Gregory Alsip is Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the New York University School of Medicine. He is Board Certified as a Diplomate by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Alsip previously served as the Director of the Inpatient Psychiatry Service and Associate Medical Director of Psychiatry at Tisch Hospital, New York University Medical Center. Dr. Alsip completed his Doctorate in Human Genetics and Cell Biology and his medical degree from the University of Texas prior to completing the residency program in Psychiatry at New York University Medical Center. Dr. Alsip served as the Chief Resident at the New York VA Medical Center and Tisch Hospital and completed a Fellowship in Academic Psychiary at Tisch Hospital, New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Alsip has more than 20 years clinical experience in the management of psychiatric disorders. He is recognized as an expert in psychopharmacology and psychodynamic psychotherapy as well as in the utilization of Electro-convulsive Therapy (ECT) and Vagal Nerve Stimulation. His expertise includes the psychiatric manifestations of medical and neurologic conditions in which he serves as a consulting attending to the medical, surgical, neurologic and rehabilitation services at the New York University-Langone Medical Center. Dr. Alsip served as a Clinical Research Attending in the pivotal Vagal Nerve Stimulation (VNS) study which lead to FDA approval of VNS for treatment-resistant depression. Dr. Alsip is pleased to offer Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) as a new, FDA approved treatment for depression that has failed to respond to medication or for individuals unable to tolerate certain medications or ECT. With broad clinical, research, administrative and teaching experience, Dr. Alsip is presently engaged in full time private practice and teaching of medical students and psychiatry residents. Dr. Alsip is honored to have received the Distinguished Teacher Award from the Psychiatry Residency Training Program at New York University, School of Medicine. He lectures widely and serves as a consultant in areas of his clinical expertise in multidisciplinary settings. Dr. Alsip's interests include the genetics of psychiatric illness, molecular approaches to understanding and treating mental disorders, neuropsychiatric aspects of HIV disease, the neurobiology of Attention Deficit Disorder and the treatment of complex mood disorders.

Philip Saltiel, M.D.
Dr. Philip Saltiel is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in Psychopharmacology, Geriatric Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine with more than 15 years experience treating depression. His experience in administering electro-convulsive therapy (ECT) as an attending psysician at New York University-Langone Medical Center gives him a unique perspective on the use of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy. Dr. Saltiel feels this new, FDA-approved alternative is a wonderful option for individuals who have not responded to medication, or for those who cannot take medication for various reasons. Dr. Saltiel received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and went on to fulfill his medical training at NYU-Langone Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. After a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at NYU-Langone Medical Center, Dr. Saltiel remained on staff and continues to work with physicians of all other specialties in treating patients with psychiatric issues who are hospitalized on medical, surgical and rehabilitation units. He also sees patients in his office in New York City's Upper East Side.
